How to Care for Your Car After PPF Installation
Practical PPF aftercare: the first days after installation, safe washing, what to avoid and how to keep paint protection film looking new.
Good care helps paint protection film keep looking its best. These are general tips. Always follow the aftercare instructions from your installer and the official EAGLE PPF warranty terms.
The first few days
Freshly installed film needs time to settle. Your installer will tell you how long to wait before the first wash. Small hazy areas or water bubbles in the first days are common as remaining moisture escapes, but raise anything you are unsure about with your installer.
Washing
- Rinse first to remove loose dust and grit - Use a pH-neutral car shampoo and a clean microfibre mitt - Wash from top to bottom and rinse often - Dry with a clean microfibre towel - Keep pressure washers at a safe distance and do not aim directly at film edges
What to avoid
- Abrasive polishes, rubbing compounds and harsh solvents - Automatic car washes with stiff brushes - Scraping off bird droppings or sap; soften them with water and lift gently - Picking at or lifting film edges
Matte film care
Matte PPF needs matte-safe products. Waxes and gloss polishes can leave shiny, uneven patches on a satin finish.
Bird droppings and tree sap
Clean them off as soon as you can. Fresh residue comes off easily; residue left in strong sun is harder to remove.
